POSITION AVAILABLE: August 16, 2024. Position is subject to renewal each semester.  

 

WORK SCHEDULE: 20 hours/week, as arranged with supervisor: Monday through Friday.



DUTIES: Assist with collection acquisitions (checking standardized lists against library holdings, firm orders); gift processing (inventory review, de-duplication, coordination of materials); fund overviews.  Assist with other departmental projects as they become available.



REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:  Graduate student in good academic standing in the University of Texas at Austin, enrolled for at least three [3] semester hours for summer session and nine [9] semester hours for each long semester (fall and spring semesters). Knowledge of Latin American and/or U.S. Latinx subject matter. Reading knowledge of Spanish. Proficiency in English. Excellent communication and organization skills. Knowledge of or experience with Microsoft Office suite. Detail-oriented.

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Strong internet searching skills with a particular ability to navigate library catalog and WorldCat.  Reading knowledge of Portuguese.  Previous experience working in a library.  Experience with data entry.
 

We want to emphasize that although experience in certain areas is desirable, candidates who meet the required qualifications and demonstrate excellent promise are encouraged to apply and will be given serious consideration.

 

WORKING CONDITIONS: Regular indoor working conditions.

 

SALARY/BENEFITS: $1733 per month. Exemption from non-resident tuition. Benefits eligible. TRB is not available for this position for long semesters.
