Data Storytelling and Visualization Workshop Graphic

This Spring, the Office of Career and Life Design is spotlighting the importance of clear and effective communication to convey the value and impact of your research. Learn from guest experts who will share insights on honing effective and creative research communication skills. Then, apply what you’ve learned in real time by participating in the third annual Empower Your (Research) Pitch contest!

The Data Storytelling and Visualization workshop on Thursday, February 26, will introduce the foundations of effective data visualization, including why it matters, good visualization practices, and common visualization types and choices. Participants will also learn how data visualization supports storytelling and audience-centered communication, followed by a live demonstration of ArcGIS Online StoryMaps for integrating data, visuals, and narrative to communicate insights clearly and persuasively.

This hybrid event is open to graduate students and postdoctoral scholars. It is held in person in the Perry-Castañeda Library, Scholars Lab Data Lab (PCL 2.202) and virtually via Zoom. When registering, please indicate whether you plan to attend in person or virtually. Zoom details will be shared with registered virtual participants closer to the event date.
