The University of Texas Libraries is proud to announce the 2025 cohort of Open Education Fellows, an initiative supporting the development of open educational resources (OER) to enhance student success and reduce the financial burden of course materials.
This year’s distinguished fellows include:
- Dr. Robin Moore, Butler School of Music
- Dr. Marissa Burgermaster, Dell Medical School
- Dr. Øyvind Bjøru, College of Liberal Arts
The Open Education Fellows program, now in its fourth year, empowers faculty members to create and implement free, accessible educational materials for their classes. By authoring their own OER, these fellows aim to replace costly traditional textbooks with high-quality, openly licensed resources that align with their curricula.
Throughout their fellowship, participants will receive dedicated support from the UT Libraries Open Education Librarian and other library staff, who provide expertise in copyright, licensing, and instructional design.
“The Open Education Fellows program is part of UT Libraries’ ongoing commitment to advancing equity and affordability in higher education,” says Tocker Open Education Librarian Heather Walter. “We are thrilled to support this year’s fellows as they create resources that will have a lasting impact on student success.”
In addition to benefiting students on the Forty Acres, the fellows’ contributions will strengthen the broader open education community by making their resources available to learners worldwide.
