Position Title: Foundry Student Associate

Work Schedule: As arranged with supervisor, between the hours of 9am-5pm, Monday-Friday
Duties:
Customer Service & Patron Support
- Assist patrons with equipment checkout, basic troubleshooting, and general makerspace use.
- Connect users to appropriate library services (e.g., research help, guides, or librarians).
- Create an inclusive, welcoming environment for users of all skill levels.
Technical Operations & Equipment Support
- Maintain working knowledge of makerspace tools and technologies. Perform basic equipment upkeep and troubleshoot common issues.
- Collaborate with staff to identify and resolve technical challenges.
- Model and uphold safety procedures and best practices.
Instruction & Workshop Support
- Lead certifications; assist in teaching skill-building and thematic workshops.
- Support outreach and instructional programming that builds creative and technical skills.
Collaboration & Teamwork
- Work collaboratively with library staff, student employees, and campus partners.
- Communicate effectively, maintain reliability in scheduling, and support team operations.
- Demonstrate initiative, accountability, and adaptability.
Professional Growth & Development
- Engage in ongoing skill development and self-assessment.
- Participate in training, feedback, and performance evaluation processes.
- Expand teaching, communication, and technical competencies over time
Required Qualifications:
- Current UT Austin students enrolled in at least 6 hours for Fall 2026/Spring 2027.
- Enthusiasm for creative practice and creative learning environments.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior work experience in a customer service or office environment.
We want to emphasize that although experience in certain areas is desirable, candidates who meet the required qualifications and demonstrate excellent promise are encouraged to apply and will be given serious consideration.
Working Conditions: Regular indoor working conditions.
Rate of Pay: $14.00
