Position Title: Information Literacy Services GRA
Department: Information Literacy Services

Summary: The Information Literacy Services GRA position provides graduate students with hands-on experience teaching information literacy skills in an academic library (Perry-Castañeda Library). GRA will be mentored by library staff to plan, teach, and assess library instruction sessions for undergraduates enrolled in core curriculum Signature Courses. As time permits, GRA will also participate in other information literacy projects such as creating assignments and online tutorials. GRA will also serve regular reference shifts at the PCL desk and on our chat service.

Position is subject to renewal each semester.
Work Schedule: Work schedule is variable, as arranged with supervisor, including the possibility of some weekend or evening hours, for a total of 20 hours per week. Work schedule will be a hybrid of in-person and remote.
Duties:
- Teaching library instruction sessions to undergraduates.
- Writing instructional content, which includes tailored research guides (on the LibGuides platform), assignments and exercises, and online tutorials.
- Assessing instruction.
- Collaborating with faculty to plan and assess instruction.
- Providing research consultations to undergraduates who attended instruction sessions.
- Participating in outreach efforts, especially for orientation.
- Providing reference assistance via instant messaging and at the PCL desk.
- Participating in ongoing professional development meetings with instruction librarians.
- Collaborating on library displays.
- Other special projects and duties.
Required Qualifications:
- UT-Austin School of Information graduate student, in good academic standing, and enrolled for 9 semester hours in fall 2025.
- Interest in teaching and a career in librarianship.
- Demonstrated effective verbal, written, and presentation skills.
- Commitment to creating a welcoming environment that values different perspectives and experiences.
- Students who will start at the iSchool in fall 2025 are eligible to apply.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working in a library or customer service position.
- Experience teaching research skills to undergraduates.
- Awareness of current issues in information literacy instruction.
- Strong commitment to undergraduate learning.
- Strong service orientation.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team environment.

Working Conditions: Regular indoor working conditions.
Salary/Benefits: $1,733 per month. Exemption from non-resident tuition. Benefits eligible. TRB is not available for this position for long semesters.
