Position Title: Scholars Lab Graduate Student Technician

Position is subject to renewal each semester.

Work Schedule:  As arranged with supervisor: Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 5pm, for up to 20 hours/week.

Duties: 

  • Staff reception desk in Scholars Lab
  • Support users who need help using technology in the Scholars Lab
  • Participate in assessment of Scholars Lab initiative
  • Support events taking place in the Scholars Lab
  • Manage communication of events such as social media posts and newsletters
  • Contribute to a wide range of library digital projects, for example digital exhibits, data curation for project work
  • Assist with workshops on digital scholarship tools for library workshop series, such as Data and Donuts and the Digital Humanities Workshop Series
  • Answer email requests and provide consultation support to Scholars Lab users

Required Qualifications: 

  • UT Austin graduate student enrolled in minimum of 6 credits for the Fall 2025 semester.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work independently
  • Standard computer skills and proficiency using Microsoft Excel or similar software

Preferred Qualifications: 

  • Experience with any of the following: scripting languages, data visualization, data cleaning or manipulation, digital humanities tools or platforms, natural language processing, optical character recognition (OCR), digital libraries or digital collections expertise, metadata, mapping
  • Instruction or teaching experience
  • Promotion and marketing skills, especially social media

Working Conditions: Regular indoor working conditions.

Rate of Pay: $20.00
