Where: UFCU Room, Perry-Castañeda Library, The University of Texas at Austin.
Background: Have you ever come up with a great idea, but suppressed the compulsion to act on it? The “Two Guys on Your Head” Dr. Bob Duke and Dr. Art Markman discuss the impediments we subconsciously build to stymie creative impulses, and are joined by director of the Austin Public Library Roosevelt Weeks and director of the UT Libraries Lorraine Haricombe to examine how the library environment can help overcome inertia.
“Two Guys on Your Head” is a nationally-syndicated program (and podcast) produced for National Public Radio. Each week, Dr. Art Markman and Dr. Bob Duke explore different aspects of human behavior and the brain in conversations hosted by producer Rebecca McInroy. The two renowned psychologists cover everything from the effects of sugar on the brain, to what's happening in our minds while we sleep and much, much more.
