RENEW ITEMS

ILS Login - (UT EID only) - Place requests, check status, view articles.

Interlibrary Services at UT Libraries in Austin will obtain books, articles, and other materials not owned by the Marine Science Library. It is available to UT faculty, students and staff with a valid UT EID.

Before making any requests, verify material(s) by using the online catalog, Library Catalog, or the Electronic Journals page.

Requested books will arrive at MSI's shipping/freighting office. Please save the pre-paid mailing envelope that comes with the item. The mailer is addressed to the ILS office and postage has been paid for the patron. If the item weighs less than one pound, the user can drop the sealed return in a mailbox. If the returnable weighs more than one pound, you'll need to take the material to a Post Office and the correct postage amount is accessed to UT.

Documents are delivered in PDF format via desktop. An email is sent to inform the patron to "pick-up" the article online.

Interlibrary loan requests or document delivery can take anywhere from 2-5 days, depending on factors such as availability, location of institution, and the mail system. There is no guarantee that ALL materials will be received within a specified time period. Due dates vary with EACH lending library; patrons are responsible for returning materials when asked.

InterLibrary Services Lending

The Marine Science Library follows most of the same policies as other UT Libraries in Austin and has its own OCLC symbol (PAY)

Requests for loans or photocopies from academic institutions outside of the U.S. should be submitted by OCLC.

MSL will loan circulating materials or provide photocopies for a reasonable fee (Texas libraries - no charge)

If library does not have OCLC send email to: l.dehart@austin.utexas.edu
