Thank you for thinking of the University of Texas Libraries. Each year we add thousands of gift items, including books, CDs, maps and periodicals, to the twelve libraries on campus, as well as the Marine Science Library in Port Aransas. These gifts strengthen the Libraries' holdings, fill in missing issues of periodicals, provide additional copies of popular and high-circulating material, and replace lost and damaged items crucial to a research university's mission.
While we appreciate and encourage the donation of materials, we must limit our acceptance to materials that support the University's teaching and research programs, and which do not unnecessarily duplicate materials at hand. Space and staff time are at a premium, even at the University of Texas.
High quality books, both hardback and paperback, of scholarly, artistic or scientific merit, sound recordings, maps, videos, CD-ROMs, and archival material pertinent to our collections.
Donations may be dropped off at a branch libraries circulation desks or at the Perry-Castañeda (Main PCL) Library Information Desk, Monday through Friday during regular business hours. To make other arrangements, please contact the Gifts Coordinator or the appropriate branch librarian.
We may ask to review a gift prior to acceptance, and may offer the donor other options should the gift not meet our needs. Lists or inventories of the material may assist this process.
