DESCRIPTION:Dr. Joseph Potter — Professor of Sociology and researcher at the  \n university’s Population Research Center — discusses the impact of reduced  \n state funding for women’s health services in Texas.\n Potter is in the midst of a three-year study — The Texas Policy Evaluation  \n Project — to evaluate legislation affecting reproductive health enacted in  \n the 2011 Texas Legislative Session. Provisions in the state budget bill cut  \n support for family planning by two-thirds\, and a budget rider placed  \n restrictions on the reauthorization of Texas’s Medicaid waiver program  \n (Texas Women’s Health Program). The project involves collaborators at Ibis  \n Reproductive Health at the University of Alabama-Birmingham\, and will focus  \n especially on the health of low-income and minority women in Texas.\n \n Free pizza provided by Austin's Pizza.
